"If your nippies have slippies, achieve better fit with Monolith"
Our friend Aaron, who is a lifelong bicycle mechanic / tinkerer and was Jeff's first mechanic mentor twenty years ago at Freewheel, has created a company to address shortcomings in existing tools and to serve the bike repair community.
His first product are these terrific spoke wrenches that feature a three sided handle designed to reduce repetitive stress injuries among wheelbuilders, and eliminate rounding and scratches on nipples . The Monolith Spoke Wrench sits ergonomically in the hand when truing, and allows for ease in spinning up tension when building a wheel from scratch.
The bits are investment cast in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and are super precise to reduce marring of anodized nipples. The Monolith tool hits the trifecta of being an excellent addition to the available tools, is made in the USA, and made by our buddy, so of course we decided a little collaboration was in order. One of our principle guiding lights at Wilde is to support our network of friends, especially when they're making something as cool as this. These Wilde edition spoke wrenches are limited edish.
We went with the venerable 3.23 size as that's the most common wrench we use when building or truing wheels in our shop. We know for some of you folks, who have grown very accustomed to your Park or DT Swiss wrenches, making a switch might seem like a pain in the butt at first, but after you spend some time with the Monolith we think you'll agree that it's a wonderful addition to the workshop.
From the Monolith Website:
Designed for maximum ergonomics and precision fit, these sit comfortably in your hand and have a non-marring slip fit over spoke nipples.
